the VTech 20-2481 2.4 GHz DSS 2-Line Expandable Cordless Phone with Digital Answering System and Caller ID (Silver and Black) is an excellent product when you have two phone lines outside, and that can be used independently without interference between them, also has long-range handset to the base, which correctly identifies the handset is being used and that line is busy, which empties in order if it complies with everything offered, so if there is to be careful in the installation to work properly.
It's nice looking and very compact, not taking up too much desk space. I haven't gotten around to reading the instruction manual just yet, but I have managed to record an outgoing message, listen to incoming messages and review the call history. The sound quality is also very good I haven't experienced any static or other interference with the voice mails or with person to person calls. This 2-line telephone/answering machine is great. It is very easy to use and I don't say that lightly.
We did not get a credit note. The phone did not work. We sent it back.
Digital Etc. This phone arrived defective - caller ID did not work at all, answering service was very hard to figure out, and half the time when the phone was hung up it did not "recognize" the base. Don't buy from them. is vending rip-off defective items and forcing customers to bear most of the cost. After 30 min on the phone with VTECH they told us to call the seller. who said they did not take returns after 15 days, charged a 15% re-stock fee and did not reimburse for shipping costs (6-8$ each way).
The newer models are probably better. The buttons on the handhelds are too small, somewhat confusing and hard to press -- but it's generally OK. For those reasons, I wouldn't choose it for families with older people or youngsters. I purchased the station as a replacement for the exact same station we had for four years or more. I wouldn't have bought it except as a replacement. This is a servicable and inexpensive 2-line system. The number 2 button went bad on the existing handheld and this was the least expensive way to replace it. The voice quality isn't all that good.
